Before the end of the school year 2023-24, Steve Carlson has agreed to extend his contract as the superintendent of the Central Consolidated School District for the next two years. The decision was made during a Work Session School Board Meeting on April 11, 2024, when the board unanimously agreed to renew the superintendent's contract.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue leading Central Consolidated School District as appointed by the CCSD's board of education. My team and I are committed to fostering a supportive environment where educators and staff are appreciated and where students are provided with an environment conducive to high-level learning." - Steve Carlson.
Moving forward, Superintendent Carlson's core belief is that all students in CCSD can perform at or better that any other school in New Mexico. In the previous year, the district has seen an increase in graduation rates and more courses to offer students with honors and AP courses to academic standards. In addition, he wishes to continue an ongoing commitment to fostering strong relationships within the community and ensuring that our educational system meets the evolving needs of all its students and members.
