CCSD and Navajo Nation Collaborate to bring a New Dispatch Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
April 8, 2025

The Central Consolidated School District continues to partner with the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety to establish a new public safety answering point (PSAP) in Shiprock, New Mexico. This collaboration will place a dispatch center on school district property to handle emergency calls and coordinate response efforts. Our school board voted four in favor and one abstain in support of this initiative. This partnership will significantly improve emergency response on school grounds and to surrounding communities. The Central Consolidated School District is looking forward to continuing our work with local leaders, Navajo Nation officials, and the Navajo Nation dispatch units. This agreement, outlined in the MOU signed on March 21st by President Nygren, is a necessary step to protect our communities in times of crisis. We are excited to support this initiative that will enhance emergency preparedness and ensure the safety of the Navajo Nation.
