FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 16, 2024
We want to inform you that the Central Consolidated School District (CCSD) is currently collaborating with the Navajo Police Department and the San Juan County Office of Emergency Management regarding a recent school threat. This weekend, on the evening of November 15, we received a credible threat. However, we have since identified the suspect, and the situation has been resolved.
Please be aware that individuals/students who make school threats will face the full extent of the law. Once the investigation is complete, they may face serious legal consequences as well as disciplinary actions and other appropriate measures.
We encourage you to discuss the serious implications with your children of making threats to schools. This conversation can help them understand the severity of such actions and promote a culture of safety and responsibility in our school community. Open communication and understanding are essential in preventing incidents and ensuring a secure learning environment for all.
As we partner with our local authorities across the Navajo Nation and San Juan County, we want to bring you a unified message that school threats are no laughing matter, and reporting any threat to law enforcement immediately will speed up the process of actively assessing the threat.
