This message provides an update regarding recent safety protocols implemented at Kirtland Middle School (KMS).

Student safety is our number one priority.  At 9:58 a.m. today, May 8, 2025, KMS initiated a preventative lockdown as a measure to de-escalate a situation that arose within a classroom. The lockdown was lifted at 10:18 a.m.

These protocols were enacted to ensure that students and staff remained safely in their classrooms while administration and school safety advisors assessed the situation.  All students remained safe while this protocol was implemented.  If you have any questions, please contact the District’s Public Relations office at [email protected].
